CBHS Scouting Upton Shield - 28 Apr '13

Some of the Grade 8 students at Camps Bay High School participated in a Scouting competition held on Sunday, 28 April 2013, with outstanding results. The competition, called UPTON SHIELD started in 1950 and is a Provincial (Western) Cape Junior Hiking competition which takes place annually for a whole day.

Teams four members between ages of 11 and 14½ years old lead by a patrol leader hike on their own for a distance of about eight kilometres, with check points en route whereby they have to submit various activities that they must do along the way. Each year, this competition is held at various venues such as Table Mountain, Silvermine, Kalk Bay, Rhodes Memorial, etc. with this year's 2013 event being held at Fish Hoek with a total of 58 teams (232 scouts). 

1st Camps Bay Scouts Group entered two teams:

Team:                   Scott Robinson, Daniel Amann & Sacha Hodgkinson
Result:                 Fourth place


Patrol Leader:    Jordan Bysshe
Team:                   Joshua-Sky Hodgkinson, Oliver Gosnett and Mpho Meti
Result:                 9th place
