The 1st team Water Polo girls left Camps Bay on Thursday the 18th of February for the annual Alexander Road High School Girls’ Water Polo Tournament. We arrived in Port Elizabeth on Thursday evening after a few regular stops and a break at our favourite stop: Jeffery’s Bay.
We had an early start with the first games being played at 7:20 on Friday morning. The team played four games on Friday – we won 2 of our games and lost 2 the other 2.
On Saturday morning we were again up early and played our first game at 8:00. We played a total of five games of which we also won two and lost three. The opposition were much harder than we had experienced in the past and having played schools like Alex Road’s Turtles; Kingswood High School; Collegiate High School; Hudson Park High and Hudson Colts; Kingsridge High School; Pearson High School and St Dominic Priory.
The girls played great water polo and learnt a lot from having played such strong and competent opposition. They held their own against stronger opposition and dominated their lesser opposition.
The girls had lots of fun too: they went to movies and played in water balls at the Boardwalk opposite our accommodation. They played as a team and gelled well out of the pool too.
Thank you to Miss Morgan for her assistance on tour – her help was invaluable and greatly appreciated.
To the matrics – congratulations on a wonderful season; water polo won’t be the same without all your bubbly personalities. Lastly, thank you to Tatiana Inocentes (Captain) and Lani Wilson (Vice-captain) for all their help on tour and this season.
