CBHS Newsletter 12 - Nov '11

Dear Parents

Exams for all pupils start tomorrow, the 16th November. During the exams and for the rest of the term, the school day will end at 13h00, except for the last day of the term, the 9th December, when school will close at 11h00.

On this day all pupils will be issued with their final reports. A reminder that the WCED expects children to be at school every day during the exams. If you keep your child at home on a non-writing day, this is at your discretion. If they do come to school, there will be a venue for supervised study.

TEXT BOOK RETURNS
All textbooks that were issued by the school must be returned on the day that the exam is written. If the textbook is lost, then the pupil must either replace the book themselves, or pay the school to replace the book. Having a full set of books is vital for starting next year. If the book is damaged, please see if you can repair it at home before returning it.

TEXT BOOK SALES
For the first time this year we will be having two book sales:
• one on the 28th November 2011 from 11h00 to 15h00 (new books only);
• the day before school starts - 10th January 2012 from 09h00 to 16h00.
Please feel free to choose any of the above dates.

RETURN OF EXAM SCRIPTS
Exams finish on the 2nd December 2011. On Monday 5th December, pupils will have a chance to check the marking and adding of marks on their exam scripts. Here they will ensure that all questions have been marked, and that all marks add up to the total that appears on the front of the paper. This is just another check to ensure that the marks are correct and correctly recorded.

SPECTRUM WEEK
The last week of term, running from Tuesday 6th December to Friday 9th December is Camps Bay High Spectrum Week. This is a week of fun outdoor activities, organised and run by the prefects under the supervision of the teachers.

Even though there is no formal work at this time, this week is a great way to end the year together. Roll-call will be taken every day and this is regarded as a school week.

BUDGET MEETING NOTIFICATION

Wednesday 24th November 2011
at 17h30
IN SCHOOL HALL

A budget has been drawn up and will be proposed at this meeting by Eugene Malan, the treasurer. The school fee to support this budget is R22150 per year. This is an 8% increase from the fees of 2011. In comparison to other similar schools, this is among the lowest increases. The range is from a high of 12,5% down to 6,5%. The fee at the school with a 6.5% increase for 2012 will be at R26420.

We believe this budget will allow us to maintain and grow the excellent educational experience we are able to offer our pupils.

Regards

DAVID DE KORTE
PRINCIPAL
