CBHS Nolly Meje From CBHS Makes Idols SA Top 10 - Aug '11

In a dramatic Results Show on Sunday (31 July) the Season Seven Top 10 were revealed.

Unfortunately, Chloe, Power, Kahludi, Miss J and Kerry had to leave.

The Idols Season Seven Top 10 was announced in an emotional 90-minute live broadcast tonight, featuring spectacular guest performances from The Arrows, The Soap Sisters, Jamali, The Graeme Watkins Project featuring former Idol Graeme Watkins, and last season’s runner-up, Lloyd Cele.

The Top 15 opened the show with a vibrant performance of the old Journey hit, “Don’t Stop Believing”, as seen on the hit show Glee. But for five of them this would be their last performance on the Idols stage. In tonight’s announcement, the Idols who had received the most votes in last week’s viewers’s votes were put through to the Top 10 along with the votes cast by the expert panel of Idols judges, Gareth Cliff, Unathi Msengana and Randall Abrahams. Five were sent home, their dreams of Idols stardom deferred for at least one more year.

The five contestants who had to leave the competition tonight were:

Mandla “Power” Simelane (26) from Soweto
Sibusisiwe “Miss J” Jali (20) from Durban
Kerry Sanssoucie (22) from Johannesburg
Kahludi Malele (29) from Louis Trichardt
Chloe Geldenhuys (16) from Cape Town

That means the Season 7 Top 10 are:

Dave Van Vuuren (20) from Johannesburg
Kelly Fortuin (21) from Cape Town
!Nolly Meje (24) from Cape Town - CAMPS BAY HIGH SCHOOL!
Lefa Pike (29) from Kimberley
Mark Haze (29) from Cape Town
Phakamane “Phaksy” Mngomezu (20) from Empangeni
Crushanda Forbes (23) from Kimberley
Erin Fourie (27) from Pietermaritzburg
Dené Vorster (16) from Johannesburg
Freddie Van Dango (22) from Johannesburg

“It seems as if the judges and the viewers are in agreement,” Idols judge Randall Abrahams said about the Top 10 choice.

The Top 10 will perform for viewers’ votes in their first live spectacular at the Home of Idols, the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands, Johannesburg, next Sunday, 7 August. Tickets are now available from Computicket.

Idols Season Seven is broadcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic every Sunday at 17:30 and dedicated fans can catch 24/7 Idols coverage on Channel 199.
