CBHS Newsletter 22 - Dec '13

Dear Parents

We are at the end of 2013, and you have your child’s final report in your hands. We have been so pleased with the results this year. Most pupils have done really well.

FAREWELLS

At this time we say farewell to a number of our staff:

Sheryll Cosslett
will be retiring after serving Camps Bay High School for 21 years. She has filled a number of different roles over the years from dealing with finances, to secretarial duties, to the Headmaster's Secretary and finally the school Administration of our computer package. She will be starting her retirement with a extended holiday to visit her daughter and family in London and catch up on her grandmotherly duties.

Mia Martens is leaving as Head of Music. She has established a vibrant music department. She will be taking a lectureship at the University of Potchefstroom in the Education faculty. Here she will train music teachers. The music pupils gave her a dramatic ‘farewell’ in the final Assembly.

Leslie Jogi is retiring as Head of English after a wonderful seven years in the job. She leaves behind a vibrant English Department. We wish her well as she returns to the family home in Zimbabwe and helps her daughter plan her wedding. Her legasy for story-telling and reading will continue.

Belinda de Vries is also retiring from being an Afrikaans teacher at Camps Bay High. She has taught here for 24 years and during this time championed the care and love of animals. Belinda founded ACTA, the society that is ‘Against Cruelty to Animals’. She ended her role as managing this society with a very successful dog kennel build. She will be looking forward to spending time at home with her husband and pets.

Fetoun Reda
and Roxanne Hemmingway have been helping us in a temporary capacity for part of the year. We thank them both for the work; Fetoun in CAT and Roxanne in Business and EMS. We wish them well next year in new positions.

On behalf of the staff I would like to thank you all for a great year. I wish everyone a wonderful rest with your family and friends.

We look forward to seeing you back at the start of 2014 on the 15 January
