As One We Grow

ISSUE 6 NOVEMBER 2009 Dear Past Pupils and Friends of Camps Bay Schools

As we approach the end of the year, we are delighted to report that 2009 has been a wonderful and exciting year for the Camps Bay Schools. The weekly Principal meetings have been productive in working together to strategise the growth and development of the Camps Bay Schools. In 2010, the three schools will be entrusted with the education of over 1220 young people from Pre-Reception to Grade 12. All three schools have enjoyed jam-packed calendars of exciting events and activities ranging from cultural concerts to sports events to social functions which contribute to the spirit of school life.

This term, a very special assembly was held at the Preparatory School for 21 current Matric pupils who started their schooling careers at the Prep School. This was an opportunity to wish the Matrics well for their final school exams, to thank them for being good role models and for their loyalty to the Camps Bay Schools.

The combined Camps Bay Schools’ Pub & Quiz evening was held on Friday, 6 November 2009 and the evening, attended by staff, families and past pupils was filled with laughter and fun.

Reflecting on the year, so much has happened at our schools. One of the highlights of the year was the combined Camps Bay Schools’ Variety Show, with staff participation, which played out to packed houses. The programme of the evenings was shared between talented High School pupils and the staff of the three Camps Bay Schools. Judging by the applause as well as the very positive comments everybody enjoyed an evening of family entertainment.

On Saturday, 28 February 2009, we hosted our 10, 20, 25 & 30 year reunions. A very successful evening was enjoyed by all who attended. The planning for the 2010 reunions will start early next year. Kindly contact Vivienne Ashcroft for further details on 082 466 8261.
The Camps Bay Preparatory School held a very successful Art Auction and the Grade 2 parents arranged a wonderful funfilled farewell function, a Family Barn Dance held on 3 December 2009, in the Camps Bay Primary School hall, the Primary School organised a “Duck-a-Thon” and the High School organised a Bling Dinner Dance Auction, featuring Top Comedian, Alan Committie and world renowned Auctioneer, Joff van Reenen. A fantastic evening was enjoyed by all.

The prefects of 2009 would like to introduce a Camps Bay High School Past Pupil jersey and would appreciate any feedback as to whether past pupils would be interested in purchasing a jersey at R200. Kindly email your feedback to Vivienne Ashcroft on campsbayschools@gmail.com.

We, as the Camps Bay Schools, look forward to the exciting year of 2010. We invite all past pupils and friends of the Camps Bay Schools to visit the schools and to participate in the events and functions that take place on the three campuses. “As one we will grow” and continue to “strive for the highest”.
