Dear Parents,
Tomorrow a
group of nine enthusiastic Drama students under the leadership of Ms Kawalsky leave for Edinburgh. They
will be attending the world famous Edinburgh Festival. We believe that up to 2
500 shows are staged every day at this festival. I am sure they will learn a
lot through this experience.
Grade Eleven Science Projects
Last week we
were treated to a display of all the Grade Eleven Science Projects. A high
standard of work was seen across all the presentations. I was pleased to see
that many of the projects focussed on environmental issues, which is my
personal area of interest. The Science teachers have chosen the best projects
to be entered in the Science Expo to be held at the Good Hope Centre. More
information on this forthcoming event will be provided closer to the time.
The Shakespeare Schools’ Festival:
This event has
been running in South Africa since 2011 and each year encourages schools to
perform abridged “thirty minute” versions of
Shakespearean plays in their local theatres throughout the country. This year,
Camps Bay High School will be participating in this successful event, allowing
our cast the opportunity to perform on the Artscape Theatre stage in
conjunction with three other schools.
The Festival is
a non-competitive, supportive and celebratory opportunity for young people to
showcase their acting talents and allows teachers to develop drama skills and
explore new ways of teaching through acting.
Camps Bay High
School will be showcasing a 1950’s version of Much Ado About Nothing. Tickets are available for R50-00 from Computicket, as well as at
the door on the night of the performance. The show starts at 7 p.m. on 1 August 2013. Please come and support this wonderful event.
Pub and Quiz Evening:
The INTERACT CLUB is having a fun-filled Pub Quiz evening on Friday, 2 August 2013 in Seminar Room A. The cost of the
ticket is R50-00 which will go
towards a fund for a baby with a cleft palate. The evening will start at 6.30 p.m. and you are welcome to bring
your own wine. Snacks will be provided. Please buy tickets from the office or
at the door.
