The current Grade 10's were treated to a special workshop for three days - "Exploding Your Potential", run by Cape Youth Care. The course makes students aware of the barriers that have prevented them from becoming the very best that they can be. The course also gives techniques to raise self-esteem, to improve self-image and to turn hopes and dreams into reality.

CBHS Principal is Thoroughly Spoiled on his Birthday! - 21 sept '09
Mr David de Korte, Principal of Camps Bay High School, a keen surfer at Glen Beach, had been surfing the winter swells at Muizenberg corner. To catch these smaller waves he had been using an old 1960 Safari long board. This was a great board in 1960, but after all these years it had become very waterlogged and heavy. The parents who had seen this board in action at Muizenberg decided it really was a museum piece and resolved to see him riding a new state-of-the-art long board. So they got together and presented him with a new light weight board on his birthday, 21 September 2009. David de Korte is eternally grateful to the sea-loving Vikings in his parent body, who generously gave him this great birthday gift.

CBHS Rapewise Talks About Mixit, Facebook, Chat Rooms - Sept '09
On Monday, 7 September 2009, we were so privileged to have Dr John Buswell from RapeWise to talk to our Primary and High School learners, the staff from all three schools as well as our Camps Bay Schools’ parent body. Although the content of his four different talks overlapped, he addressed crucial issues with each of the four audiences in such an informative manner that he left us all realizing how important a disciplined approach to all the wonderful technology that we have available to us, is.

CBHS Successful Past Pupils Day - Aug '09
PAST PUPILS SPORTS DAY
Our Past Pupils Day on Saturday 30 Aug 2009 turned out to be a great success. It was so good to see all our past pupils back and share with them what they have done with their lives. We competed in all the sports codes, and the winner was good sportsmanship and good fun. As usual at these occasion, there was, a fair bit of good-natured banter between the past pupils and their old teachers who were ‘reffing’ the games. The morning ended with everyone watching the Springboks beat Australia on the big screen in the Seminar Room.
MATRIC PRACTICE EXAMS
The Matrics have started writing and so we are all trying to be quiet around the exam venues. This is their final practice exam before they start writing next month. Even though its two months away in real time, they will be starting towards the end of October and we are now in September; hence ‘next month’. We wish them every success possible.
MIXIT, FACEBOOK, TEENAGE PARTIES, NEW SEXUAL OFFENCE LAWS etc.
We have an organization who specialize in talking to schools and parents on these topics. We as the Camps Bay Schools have invited them to come down and address our schools on Monday 7th September. They will talk to all the High School pupils from 11:00 – 12:00, then to the staff from 15:00 – 16:00 and finally you the parents from 19:00 to 21:00 in the High School Hall. I have attended their presentation and found it most helpful and informative. This convinced me to bring them down from Johannesburg to our schools. I strongly encourage you are parents to come along and hear what they have to say.
Kindly RSVP Vivienne Ashcroft on 082-466-8261 or e-mail her on campsbayschools@gmail.com by Monday morning, 7th September 2009.
